Day 6

What an amazing last day!  The sun is still shining and there is plenty of snow.  It has not snowed all week and it is lucky the snow has not melted.

The week has gone really quickly.  It seems like it was only yesterday we were getting on the coach outside school at 3.30am.

All of the ski instructors have commented on how well all of the pupils have behaved on the slopes.  They have asked me to pass on their good wishes and thanks.  They said that they have never had such a nice polite and well mannered group of pupils.  They have been respectful and are a credit to their parents and the school.  Like I said yesterday, this is the nicest group of pupils I have ever had the pleasure of taking away.

As I am sure you have seen on the videos, the quality of the skiing has been amazing.  The pupils have performed so well.  All of them have progressed to a more than respectable standard.  Dan (the instructor of the intermediate group) skied with the advanced group for a short time yesterday and he said that its a good job Adrian (who is an ex member of the Scottish race team) was their instructor as even he struggled to keep up with them.  Both of the other groups have also surpassed expectations.  The middle group have done some exceptionally difficult black runs and the beginners group are going down red runs for fun!

What an amazing week.  Thanks for allowing us to take such a wonderful group of children away.  Myself, Phil and Jayne are exceptionally proud of them.

Day 5

Good evening,

We only have 1 more day of skiing left.  This is the first time in 8 ski trips where every pupil has participated in every session.
The pupils have been a credit to the school.  I can honestly say that this is the best group I have ever had the pleasure of taking away on a trip abroad.
I do have some disappointing news!  We lost the football last night. One of our teams got through to the final. It is safe to say that they were never going to win.  There was even a 'hand of god', which enabled the opposition to score what turned out to be the winning goal.  It was a bit of fun, but the boys typically were upset!
The pupils purchased small gifts for the instructors.  These were quite varied.  On one of the pictures is a pair of pink fluffy dice stuck to one of our instructors head!
We hope you are enjoying the blog.  I will hopefully put another post on tomorrow night while the pupils are tidying their rooms!

Day 4

It has been another fantastic day here in Kleinarl.  All 3 groups have ventured into the surrounding areas.  One of the benefits of this resort is that all of the ski areas are inter-connected.  This increases the amount of areas we can ski in by 300 %.

I have been really pleased with the quality of the 3 instructors we have.  The quality of skiing in each group has improved greatly and this is certainly due to their teaching.  The middle group even went down a black run!  This is on one of the videos below.

Tonight we have been shopping to Altenmark and now we are going to 'Winterfest'.  This is like a carnival with different stalls and games.  The boys are very excited as their is a 5 a side football tournament!  Hope they do better than the current England team!

Hope you like the pictures.  There is even a game of 'Guess Who' at the end.

Day 3

Today saw the beginners group go straight to the top of the mountain.  They were all a little apprehensive at first, but they soon got into their stride.  They all did very well, given that the skiing conditions were quite difficult.

The intermediate group ventured out to another resort called Flachauwinkl.  They stayed out all day and had a lovely lunch on the side of the mountain.  Their skiing is developing very well. Most of this group are now performing parallel turns.

The advanced group also ventured to a new resort called Zauchensee and Altenmarkt.  Their instructor even took them down some very difficult black slopes.  This alone shows how good these boys are now!

Pizza night was great last night.  We are watching a film tonight and going shopping tomorrow.  I will try and persuade everyone to buy some nice presents for everybody!

Enjoy the pictures!

Day 2

It has been another stunning day in Kleinarl.  The weather is hot and this has made the skiing tough, but all of the pupils have been outstanding.

The advanced group went to a jumps park today and the beginners group will be at the top of the mountain by the end of tomorrow.

Ice skating was great last night. We were all put to shame by Jordan who should be on Dancing on Ice!

We are going to the Italian tonight for pizza!
